You and me short stories

Prayers Across Distant Shores

High in the mist-shrouded hills of Himachal Pradesh lived Devadathan, while Meera resided amid the chaotic bustle of Mumbai. They met unexpectedly through a social media group. Both carried the quiet weight of personal struggles and family pressures, and the solace they offered each other quickly blossomed into a deep, irreplaceable friendship.
Late one night during an online chat, Meera finally opened her heart:
"Dev... there’s something I need to tell you. I’ve fallen in love with you."
Overwhelmed and uncertain of how to react, Dev suddenly logged off. Devastated and fearing she had ruined their bond, Meera wept. But moments later, her phone rang. It was Dev:
"Meera, I love you too. But we’re separated by so much distance. With our studies and responsibilities, we can't just meet right now..."
Together, they made a promise: they would focus on their goals, finish their studies, and stand on their own feet before finally meeting. That shared commitment only deepened their affection over the years.
Years passed, until one day Meera sent an excited message: "Dev! I’ve completed my course, and my travel ticket is booked! I’m coming to Himachal next week!"
The day of her arrival came. Dev stood at the Shimla bus station, his heart pounding with anticipation. Suddenly, the station news monitor flashed a breaking update: "Tragedy in the Mountains: Tourist bus traveling from Mumbai to Shimla plunges into a ravine. No survivors reported."
Numb with shock and grief, Dev returned to his room. The next morning, his parents found him lifeless on his bed. Clutched in his hand was a photograph of Meera alongside a handwritten note:
"Our love came too late for this world... but we will meet."
Miles away in Mumbai, while clearing out Meera's room, her grief-stricken parents discovered a small diary. On the last page, beneath a picture of Dev, she had written:
"Even if it costs me my life, I will go to see him..."
In the end, the vast distance that kept them apart in life meant nothing, as their souls finally reunited beyond the stars.
